Fall Fun

We raked our leaves and our girly girl who won't touch play dough or get in the swimming pool also wouldn't play in the leaves. What a surprise! But she put her baby in there and stood there for a minute when we stuck her in the pile before she super flipped out!

And here's our first look at baby number 2!

Random

There are too many mosquitos in your back yard when you have to spray Deep Woods Off in the middle of the afternoon just to go push your baby in the swing!

Maybe I'm not as good at knitting as I thought.

Hadley turned 20 months this weekend.

I HATE cooking dinner.

I can't wait to have another baby.

Hadley likes to sit on the kitchen counter.

The 2 most exciting parts of my day are nap time and getting the mail.

In reference to the hating cooking: I'm jealous of people who get to go out to eat!!!

I got a parenting magazine in the mail last week and Hadley "reads" it every day. She loves to see all the babies.

I'm about 1/2 way done peeling the wallpaper off our 4th bedroom.

I drank WWWAAAAAAYYY too much Dr. Pepper yesterday and was up half the night!

State Fair 2009

This year was a lot more exciting for Hadley. Last year she wasn't really interested. We just went for the food. We still went for the food this year, but we also enjoyed watching all the girls play and look at the animals. We got in free because David is a police officer! We all pack into the Drennan's minivan and go together! So all we have to buy is our food...yeah! I don't know what we're going to do when we can't all fit in there anymore?!

This was at the end of the night. We had been there for 4 hours and she was READY to go home!

Hello Baby Cow!

I can drive the tractor by myself!

Picking apples (fake ones) with Averie. Hadley calls them Bapples!

Hadley and a Breadstick

MMMMM, Pizza.
I was too lazy to put her in her high chair, so we just sat her on the counter next to the pizza box and gave her bites off our pizza. Then, I turn around for two seconds and she swipes a breadstick and starts chomping down like it's all she's ever wanted! She was being too funny so I had to take a picture! Well, Bryan took the picture, but still hilarious!

Clothesline!

Bryan put up our new clothes line the other day and I was so excited to dry our diapers outside!! I love seeing them outside my back window drying. Hadley handed me the clothes pins. She's such a big helper! She also likes to help me unload the dishwasher and put the clothes in the dryer!

Macaroni Deals!

Bryan could eat a box of kraft macaroni for breakfast, lunch and dinner! So, we go through it pretty fast. About 8 months ago I found a great deal on them at Meijer. They were 33 cents a box, so I bought 30 or so boxes. We ran out about a month ago, but I just couldn't bring myself to pay full price. 75 cents a box is a rip off!
Then last sunday there was a buy 3 get 1 free coupon on the paper. After doing our dumpster diving we had 50 copies of the coupon insert with the macaroni coupon in it. I thought "yess....50 boxes of macaroni" Then Bryan informed me that I only needed like 12 of the coupons to get 50 boxes. 50 coupons actually gets me 200 boxes! Oops, I dont' need that many boxes. But I have lots of copies of that coupon if anyone wants it!
We wanted to use them in conjunction with a really awesome sale.....and boy did we ever. Kroger is currently offering $1 off your next order when you buy 4 boxes of kraft macaroni. So, you buy them and then you get a print out to use on your next purchase of anything in their store. We went to the store and cleared their shelf! It was so amazing. They were on sale for 53 cents a box, plus the coupon, plus the next order deal! After all was said and done we bought 44 boxes for 15 cents each!
And I think we may go to another store and clear their shelf as well! It's such an amazing feeling to know that we are paying so little for something we use so much of! Yeah for us and our Macaroni...oh and Hadley liked the boxes!

Harvest

Now, try not to be overwhelmed by my crop!
The corn isn't done and neither are the tomatoes, but I've harvested a little of everything else.
First, I picked a total of 9 green beans. I was super excited about eating them, but then I forgot that they were on the stove and I burnt them to a crisp...so there goes that.

Then, I pulled up my carrots...and here's a pic of them.

In this picture, they look a little small, but overall not too bad....well scroll down!

Oh, my I can't wait to take a bite out of my quarter sized carrots!!! NOT!

So, those were a really bad couple of days as I was depressed about all my hard work, but then I finally got to eat something delicious out of my garden:

I am a bit of a bell pepper nut. I eat about 3 a week if not more. So, I decided to grow one. However, green ones are not good. I only like the orange/red/yellow varieties because they are sweeter. But, I ate this green one happily because I grew it myself!
Now, I've never eaten an eggplant before, and I don't think I ever will again, but it was very interesting!
If my corn and tomatoes don't produce anything good I will be super disappointed, but we have a while before we cross that bridge!

4th of July

Ok, so this doesn't really have anything to do with the 4th of July, but I needed a title! We spent most of the day at home today, and then we went to Lauren and David's for a cook out. Which turned into a cook in because of the rain.
I really just wanted to post a picture of Hadley's first pony tail! She's so cute!

Then, right as I was about to post this, guess who shows up in our driveway!

This was David's first time working our district, so he came by to show us his cool car. Bryan got in just for fun! Our neighbors are going to think we're in trouble. Ha!

It's HOT

So in honor of the heat we decided to play in the sprinkler. Here's Hadley in her swim suit getting ready to go out and play. The sprinkler was a little too scary, so we decided just to play with hose instead and she seemed to enjoy that! It was a fun afternoon!

Today's goings on

Went to Lauren's house this morning and got hang out with all the kiddos. She has 6 at her house right now. Her neices and nephew and her sister are all there plus her 2 kids, so she's busy! But it was nice to let Hadley play with all the big kids. She loves to follow them around. Then Hadley and I went to stupid Walmart to get Bryan a father's day present. Not really an exciting one, but I think it's sweet. Maybe next year Hadley will be big enough to make her daddy a card! How cute.

I've been asked to do some document translating for a medical research group assosiated with Riley Hospital for Children. I'm very excited to get to do some work with my spanish again. It will be totally through email and I'm going to get started on my first project today during nap time. Which is right now, so I guess I better stop blogging and start translating! Good luck to me because I'm pretty rusty!

My Garden

A while ago I showed you all pictures of the sprouts I had inside. Well, I officially planted my garden on May 1st so we are over 4 weeks into it and I have some wonderful pictures to show of the progress!

1st up are my tomato plants. These aren't the ones I had as seedlings. (those died an untimely death a few weeks ago. These I got from a guy at church who was giving them away for free last weeken!) I'm going to make my own tomato sauce to freeze. Also some diced tomatoes for chilli and cooking. Yum!

This is a pepper plant. I have been eating red and yellow bell peppers right and left and thought it was about time to grow my own!

These are my carrots. I'm having a hard time getting excited about them because I can't actually see their progress. All I can see are the tops!

These are the green beans. They are starting to flower, so we should have beans any day now!

And lastly this is the corn. I wasn't planning on doing corn, that was Bryan's idea. But now they are my fastest growing plant and I'm really looking forward to eating some corn in the fall.

While I was out there I also took some pics of Hadley just because!

VBS

VBS is almost over. We've had a good week all in all. There were 4 of us co planning and I think we did a pretty good job! I've really enjoyed the behind-the-scenes aspect of it. I think I like it even better than teaching or doing nursery like I have in the past. But maybe I shouldn't say that or they'll ask me to do it every year! We are doing a game show theme and I think it's really cute. Some of the older kids are bored and want to do sports camp (our previous VBS theme) again. The little kids are so cute! Now, if we can just pull off the backstage bash on Friday night we'll be home free.

Words and a New Diaper

I wanted to share all the things Hadley can say.
Hi
Uh-Oh
Mommy
Daddy
Baby

and then she signs all the rest of her word. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed. I'll show her something once or twice and then she remembers it and uses it in context! She's so smart, now if she would only start talking! She signs:
more
all done
drink
please
thank you
potty
swing
help

Also, I have been wanting this diaper for a long time and I finally found it at just the right price second hand! I'm so excited (hey, it's the little things, right?) And Bryan's excited too. Hadley doesn't seem to care, but she looks really cute in it! For the most part, I've kept the majority of my diapers gender neutral, but I couldn't help myself. A girl needs some pink! The picture doesn't quite show how pretty the color is, but you get the picture

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! We had a throwing up baby on Friday night which was no fun. And so we missed a birthday party on Saturday that I was so looking forward to. Then we stayed home from church on Sunday just to be safe. We did get to go to my parents house during the Indy 500 and hear the cars racing! It's been a couple years since I've been in Speedway on race day and it was so soothing to hear the cars and see the hustle and bustle again!
Then today we went to Lafayette to visit all our friends and have a cookout! It was heart warming to see everyone in one place together again! We are spread across the nation, though so it will be a while before it happens again. I'll post some cute pictures of Hadley that Jen took for me later!
Also, I found out that my friend Nicole is having a boy! Yeah for her!
Happy last week of school to all the teachers! (and to the lucky ones, happy first week of summer!)
Take a little time to remember and pray for all those who serve our country bravely, and those who lost their lives doing so.

Deals and updates!

We had a fun weekend at Jeremiah's wedding! (see previous post) While we were in Lafayette, I got to visit with my friend Amy from Frankfort and her baby, Ellie, and Hadley got to meet for the first time. We ate Don Pablo's and it was yummy!! Here they are riding around together!

Yesterday I went to Target to get some deals! And we did great! Here's the haul:

5 bliss candy bars $.99 each minus 5 $1.00 off coupons
4 Pringles mini cans $.69 each minus 4 $.50 off coupons

3 Axe body wash trial size $.99 each minus 3 $1.00 off coupons
8 Kraft salad dressings $1.59 each minus 8 $1.50 coupons and 4 $1 off 2 coupons (target Q)
Total before coupons was $49.42
total after coupons was $3.66
WOOHOO!!!

Today I wanted to go to garage sales, so I read the paper and planned my route. My fist stop was one that I stumbled upon. It was on 267 halfway between Avon and Plainfield. So, I went into this Community Garage sale and man did I hit the jackpot!!!!!! First, I finally found a wagon. I've been looking on craigslist for weeks. It's the wagon I always wanted and I got it for $20. Retails for about $100!!! (although this one is really old, it is in super condition)
Then, I came across a bike trailer for Hadley to ride in behind our bikes. I paid $15 and it is $280 at Dick's!!!! Then, I found a booster type seat for Hadley to sit at the dinner table with us. I'm not sure what it retails for, but I got it for $8! Then, lastly I found 2 bar stools to sit at our kitchen counter and got them both for $8! I'm so pumped at my finds. By then, we were out of time and went home for lunch, we didn't even get to any of the other places I had planned. While I was there looking around, there were SO MANY sales that I couldn't even get to them all. And they all had good stuff. By the time I got to some of them (around 10:30) all their stuff was sold! I'm definitely going back there next year!! All for about $50!

Jeremiah's Wedding

So last weekend was Jeremiah's (my college roommate) wedding. It was a very informal wedding with just the family and close friends. There was maybe 20 people there. It was in northern Indiana in a little town called Brook. Since I was the best man I had to dress up.

Here's a picture of Hadley and myself all dressed up.

Here is a picture of all three of us:

Hadley was really tired on the way home and she fell asleep in the car. She was so cute we just had to take a picture:

Garden

May first was my goal date to plant my garden. Well, it rained on May 1st and 2nd. And then we were at church all day yesterday, so I finally planted today! I planted Sweet Corn, Green Beans, Carrots, and Tomatoes!! Everyone pray that my little seedlings take root and we'll have something to show for ALL MY HARD WORK!!! I'm exhausted by all the weeding and such.
Hadley has started playing peekaboo, it's soooo cute! Right now she's reading a book! She's so big!

My fun trip!

Amber and I went to the Vera Bradley sale on Tuesday and had a blast. I bought a wallet to match my purse and an apron that matches as well! I have wanted one of the Vera aprons for years, and they finally started selling them to the public! I'm so excited. Hadley did great for Bryan's parents, and then did just fine when he came home too. I actually got home just in time to put her to bed, and I was glad I didn't miss that!
Now, the next big trip will be going to Bryan's old roomate's wedding on May 9th. Hadley doesn't sleep well in other places, so that might be a long night, but we'll hope for the best.

Here's Amber digging through the discard bin. You find the BEST stuff in there because everyone forgets to check them!

It's almost May

Some of the cute thing's Hadley's been doing lately:
laying her head down on pillows and the couch and pretending to go night night!
Running to the door when we say it's time to go "bye bye"
getting super excited when she hears the bath water running!
Dancing to the music from the fridge farm!

So cute!

Vera Bradley

A few years ago Amber and I went to the Vera Bradley Extravaganza Sale. It was so fun! Now Amber works at a Vera Bradley store in Plainfield, and her boss gave her 2 tickets to the preview VIP day before it opens to the public!!! I'm so excited that she asked me to go with her. She's taking a 1/2 day off school and Bryan's mom is going to watch Hadley. And we'll have a girl's day road trip next Tuesday! Now, I can't buy anything, but I'm hoping that since it's a VIP day we might get a gift basket or something!! Hey, a girl can hope can't she! Just wanted to share my excitement!

Also, today at my ladies bible study Hadley had a fun time playing with our hostess's cat. She's never been around a cat, and they were fast friends. Either she was chasing the cat around and petting it, or the cat was chasing her and batting at her toys or her jacket. It was very funny, and it kept her busy the whole time. That would have been really nice if we'd actually done a study today, but we only chatted and picked our next study. I'm interested to see how she reacts when the rabbit comes home for the summer. (she's currently living in an art room at my Aunt's elementary school) I bet she'll have fun chasing the rabbit around the house! How Cute!

Squirrel Update

So Emily and I were doing some yard work today in the front yard when one of the babies ran up to us. I had removed some black plastic garden edging and it was playing in it. Then it decided to run at me and tried to climb my leg. It jumped at my leg like it would a tree trunk. So I tried corralling it to the trees in the back, but it's not scared of people. It tried climbing the garage doors before finally going beside the house. It ended up running under our air conditioner. The unit sits up on some cinder blocks and the squirrel ran up under it. So we just gave up and left it alone.

Baby Squirrel

So our neighbor got a surprise when a squirrel fell down their chimney. Turns out it was a mother squirrel who had made a nest in the top of the chimney and had two babies. So they called animal control who got all the squirrels out and let them loose outside. Well the babies are still real small and don't know to run away from people yet so we got a few pictures.

The baby and it's momma
